Kei (or visual kei) lifestyle refers to a lifestyle, originally inspired by the unique visual style of Japanese musicians, with the following preferences:

• a great variety of aesthetic styles that emphasize uniqueness and outstandingness  within a specific theme or genre (for instance: gothic, fairytale, dolly, Victorian, punk, etc.);
• high theatricality of thematic makeup, stylistic elements, unique costumes and accessories, etc. 
• excessive elaboration and refined execution of a thematic kei as a way of life;
• association with a bigger vision behind a specific kei which extends towards a kei-themed lifestyle and creates an entire world of its own.
